+ / - in a range from 0-40 is really hard, especially when you have to deal with natural numbers

Use excel. Two Collumns. One with Growth, the other one adding the growth to the previous ability...
then you get the amount ability at a certain level. then multiply 4 times the vets for the ability and 1 time the experts for the ability and add them up. This works if you have the recruits filled up.
